August was dramatic.

August had eclipses. Revelations. Plot twists. Things ending, things beginning, things becoming impossible to unsee. The sky spent the month opening doors, closing others and occasionally throwing the entire doorframe across the room.

September 2026 is different.

September looks at whatever August revealed and asks a considerably less glamorous question:

So… what are you actually going to do about it?

And this is where the month becomes interesting.

September begins with Jupiter trying to expand while Saturn demands structure and Mars simultaneously attempts to drive through a brick wall. Relationships then start pointing toward the future before Venus enters Scorpio and decides politeness has had quite enough airtime. A Virgo New Moon gives us a practical reset. Chiron retrogrades back into Aries because apparently we haven't finished that chapter. The Equinox opens a new season. A highly Neptunian Aries Full Moon asks whether we're following genuine intuition or simply hallucinating with confidence. And finally Mars enters Leo, Mercury enters Scorpio, and September leaves us standing at the entrance to an October that looks… well.

Hold onto your underwear.

But we'll get there.

Welcome to the September 2026 Astrology Forecast.

September 1: The Accelerator and the Brake Are Both Down

September doesn't ease us gently into the month. On September 1, Jupiter at 13°42′ Leo trines retrograde Saturn at 13°42′ Aries, while Mars at approximately 13°26′ Cancer squares Saturn in Aries. Mars then reaches 13°43′ Cancer and sextiles Mercury at 13°43′ Virgo.

That's quite an opening statement.

Jupiter trine Saturn is one of those aspects that can make growth useful rather than merely impressive. Jupiter wants more: more opportunity, more confidence, more creativity, more life. In Leo, it isn't exactly shy about it either. Saturn retrograde in Aries asks whether that magnificent idea has bones.

Can it survive reality? Can you sustain it? Are you willing to work for it after the initial excitement wears off?

This is expansion meeting discipline, and the trine means the two can cooperate. Big ideas can become structures. Optimism can acquire a business plan. Ambition can become something tangible.

Unfortunately, Mars has also entered the meeting.

Mars in Cancer square Saturn retrograde in Aries is the cosmic equivalent of pressing the accelerator while somebody else has the handbrake on. You want movement. Something blocks movement. You push harder. It still doesn't move. You become irritated. You push harder again because apparently we learn nothing.

This is where frustration can become exhaustion.

Energy may feel available one moment and depleted the next. Responsibilities, circumstances or other people may slow progress. The trick isn't to interpret every obstacle as evidence that you're on the wrong path. Sometimes Saturn isn't saying no. Saturn is saying, "Not like that, darling."

Fortunately, Mars sextile Mercury in Virgo gives us a way through. Mercury in Virgo can diagnose the problem, organize the details and find the missing screw nobody noticed was lying underneath the table.

So don't smash through the wall. Find the bloody door.

There's also a beautiful symbolic layer here: September 2026 is a Universal Month 1 within a Universal Year 1 in numerology. This isn't astrology, but as an additional symbolic system it reinforces the month's themes of initiative, independence and beginning again.

And we're arriving here immediately after the August 28 Lunar Eclipse in Pisces.

So perhaps don't sprint into your shiny new existence while you're still emotionally unpacking the previous one.

The opening message of September is simple: grow, but realistically. Move, but strategically. Start, but build something capable of surviving your enthusiasm.

September 8–9: Relationships Start Pointing Somewhere

By the second week of September, attention shifts toward Venus.

On September 8, Venus in Libra trines the North Node in Aquarius. On September 9, Venus at 28° Libra sextiles Lilith at 28° Sagittarius.

The Venus–North Node trine deserves attention.

Venus is extraordinarily comfortable in Libra, one of the signs she rules. Here she speaks through relationships, attraction, cooperation, beauty, values, money, social connections and the delicate art of dealing with other human beings without murdering them.

The North Node in Aquarius points toward unfamiliar territory: future development, communities, networks, unconventional connections and new ways of participating in the collective.

Put the two together and relationships can become doors into the future.

This doesn't necessarily mean that your soulmate will walk into Starbucks at 11:42 and immediately recognize you across the oat-milk counter. Please remain functional.

It can be romantic, but it can also describe an introduction, friendship, professional collaboration, invitation or social connection that quietly redirects your path.

And remember: not every important relationship is supposed to last forever. Some people enter our lives because of where they take us next.

Then Venus sextiles Lilith.

Venus in Libra knows how to behave. Lilith in Sagittarius is considerably less interested in behaving.

Suddenly the question isn't simply, "What keeps everybody happy?"

It's: What do I actually want?

Attraction can become more honest. Desire can become less apologetic. Boundaries can become clearer. Something we've politely ignored may become considerably harder to ignore.

Enjoy Venus's final diplomatic days in Libra. She's about to enter Scorpio.

And then nobody is pretending anymore.

September 10: The Big September Reset Begins

September 10 is one of the busiest transition points of the entire month.

Venus enters Scorpio and immediately opposes retrograde Chiron around 0°18′ Taurus. Mercury finishes Virgo by squaring Lilith at 29° Sagittarius, then enters Libra. Meanwhile, Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini.

One day. Four separate shifts.

Venus entering Scorpio changes the emotional temperature immediately.

Venus in Libra asks, "How can we make this relationship work for both of us?"

Venus in Scorpio asks, "Yes, but what are you hiding?"

Love becomes deeper, more passionate and potentially more complicated. Questions of trust, intimacy, sex, loyalty, vulnerability, money and emotional power become harder to avoid.

And Venus immediately opposing Chiron makes this personal.

Chiron retrograde in Taurus has been examining wounds connected with value, security, stability, the body and self-worth. Venus arriving opposite it can activate exactly those places through relationships.

Why don't I feel desirable enough? Why do I accept less than I want? Why am I terrified of losing this person? Why does money affect my sense of worth? Why does receiving love sometimes feel more dangerous than chasing it?

Apparently we can't simply have sex and enjoy ourselves. We have to discuss our attachment wounds first.

Very efficient, Universe.

Meanwhile, Mercury in late Virgo squares Lilith at 29° Sagittarius before leaving the sign.

The 29th degree—the anaretic degree—adds urgency. Mercury wants precision and evidence. Lilith in Sagittarius isn't particularly interested in censoring inconvenient truths.

Something may need to be said.

Whether it needs to be said exactly the way you're currently planning to say it is another question.

Then Mercury enters Libra, and after somebody has detonated the conversational grenade, Mercury puts on a nice jacket and says:

"Perhaps we could discuss this constructively."

Actually, yes. We can.

Mercury in Libra favors negotiation, mediation, perspective and the attempt to understand more than one side of an argument.

And then Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini.

Uranus has only recently entered Gemini, beginning a much longer story around information, communication, media, technology, transportation, education and the ways human beings exchange ideas. The retrograde period asks us to reassess some of those developments.

Not every innovation deserves to survive simply because it's new.

September begins reviewing the experiment.

September 11: New Moon in Virgo — Please Fix the Thing

On September 11, the Sun and Moon meet at 18°25′ Virgo, giving us the September New Moon.

After August's eclipses, this feels refreshingly practical.

No cosmic opera is required.

Virgo looks around at the emotional wreckage, rolls up its sleeves and asks:

"Right. What needs doing?"

This New Moon is excellent for routines, organization, work, health-supportive habits, skills, systems, administration, research and all the unglamorous little things that quietly determine whether our lives actually function.

Virgo doesn't particularly care about the beautiful vision board if your inbox contains 4,917 unread emails and you haven't made the appointment you've been postponing since March.

Clean the kitchen. Answer the email. Make the appointment. Organize the documents. Learn the skill. Fix the process. Start the routine.

The Virgo New Moon reminds us that changing your life often looks considerably less sexy than social media suggests.

Sometimes transformation is just doing the useful thing repeatedly.

September 12–14: Mercury Talks to Neptune, Pluto and Uranus

The ruler of that Virgo New Moon—Mercury—is immediately busy.

On September 12, Mercury at 3°22′ Libra opposes retrograde Neptune at 3°22′ Aries. The Moon joins Mercury in Libra, while Mercury also trines retrograde Pluto in Aquarius around 3°19′.

Then on September 14, Mercury reaches 5°41′ Libra and trines Uranus at 5°41′ Gemini.

This is a fascinating sequence.

Mercury opposite Neptune can be wonderful for imagination, intuition, poetry, art, spiritual thought and creative writing. Logical boundaries become more permeable. We may perceive connections we normally miss.

Unfortunately, Neptune is also perfectly capable of making complete nonsense feel spiritually profound.

So yes, listen to your intuition.

But perhaps don't transfer your life savings to somebody because a TikTok tarot reader said the Universe told her you're entering your millionaire era.

Check the facts.

The Moon joining Mercury increases the emotional component. What we think and what we feel can become intertwined.

At the same time, Mercury trine Pluto gives the mind considerably more depth. Research is favored. Psychological insight can be powerful. Conversations can move beneath the surface. Information may emerge that changes how we understand a situation.

Pluto doesn't ask, "What happened?"

Pluto asks:

"Why did it happen, what's underneath it, and who benefits?"

Then Mercury trines Uranus on September 14.

And here comes the breakthrough.

A new idea. Unexpected information. An unconventional solution. A conversation suddenly going somewhere fascinating. The missing piece appearing when you weren't looking for it.

Neptune imagines.

Pluto investigates.

Uranus disrupts.

Mercury tries to understand the entire bloody thing.

This can be an unusually fertile period for writers, researchers, strategists, therapists, artists and anyone whose work depends on finding connections between things other people haven't connected yet.

September 14: Momentum Returns — and Lilith Puts On a Suit

September 14 contains more than Mercury–Uranus.

The Sun at 21°59′ Virgo sextiles Mars at 21°59′ Cancer, an influence that builds before exactitude and lingers afterward. Meanwhile, Lilith enters Capricorn and trines Chiron around 0°02′ Taurus.

Sun sextile Mars provides useful momentum.

This isn't necessarily explosive action. Virgo and Cancer aren't exactly competing for the title of Most Reckless Zodiac Sign. Instead, this can be practical, motivated energy directed toward something we actually care about.

Work on the project. Solve the problem. Protect what matters. Get something moving.

Lilith entering Capricorn introduces a different question.

Capricorn deals with ambition, authority, achievement, institutions, hierarchy and the rules governing respectable adult existence.

Lilith walks in and asks:

Who wrote these rules, exactly?

And why are you obeying them?

The immediate trine to Chiron in Taurus can expose where ambition and self-worth have become entangled. Perhaps you've been measuring your value by productivity, money, professional recognition or somebody else's definition of success.

Lilith isn't necessarily telling you to quit your job and move into a cave.

She's simply asking whether your ambitions actually belong to you.

September 15: Venus Square Pluto — Please Try Not to Lose Your Mind

On September 15, Venus at 3°16′ Scorpio squares retrograde Pluto at 3°16′ Aquarius.

Oh, delicious.

Venus–Pluto can be magnetic.

Passion. Desire. Obsession. Creative intensity. Sexual attraction. Emotional depth.

The kind of chemistry that makes intelligent adults suddenly develop the decision-making skills of unsupervised teenagers.

Enjoy yourself.

But perhaps keep one functioning brain cell on duty.

Because Venus–Pluto can also reveal jealousy, possession, manipulation, dependency, fear of abandonment and power struggles.

If something uncomfortable surfaces in a relationship, don't immediately assume the relationship is doomed. Pluto exposes what has been operating underneath the surface.

Sometimes that's exactly what allows intimacy to deepen.

Other times it shows you why you need to leave.

Venus also rules money and values, so financial arrangements, dependency, ownership and questions of worth can enter the conversation.

Meanwhile, on the same day, retrograde Neptune at 3°17′ Aries sextiles retrograde Pluto at 3°17′ Aquarius.

This is much bigger than somebody checking whether their ex watched their Instagram Story.

Neptune–Pluto is a slow transpersonal aspect describing collective changes in spirituality, ideology, imagination, technology, power and the stories societies tell themselves about reality.

While we're having personal dramas, the outer planets are quietly remodeling civilization's basement.

We'll be talking about this one for years.

September 18: Chiron Returns to Aries — Apparently We're Not Finished

On September 18, retrograde Chiron moves back into Aries, where it will remain until mid-April 2027.

Remember when Chiron entered Taurus? Remember when it stationed retrograde?

Well, the Universe has checked the assignment and returned it with: "Please revise."

Chiron in Aries returns us to unfinished wounds involving identity, independence, courage, anger, self-assertion and our fundamental right to exist as ourselves.

Who am I when I'm not performing for someone else? Can I choose my own path? Can I take up space without apologizing? Can I defend myself without becoming destructive? Can I want something simply because I want it?

Chiron's return to Aries isn't one-day weather. It reopens a chapter that lasts for months.

And September 18 piles more onto the conversation.

Mercury at 12°31′ Libra opposes retrograde Saturn at 12°31′ Aries, while the Sun around 25° Virgo squares the Moon around 25° Sagittarius.

Mercury–Saturn can bring serious conversations, difficult information, boundaries, delays or decisions requiring maturity.

"We need to talk."

Four words that have never improved anybody's afternoon.

But Saturn isn't here merely to depress Mercury. This opposition can be excellent for concentrated work, careful thinking and conversations that need to produce something sustainable.

Meanwhile, the Virgo Sun and Sagittarius Moon create tension between detail and possibility, responsibility and freedom, the plan and the desire to run away from the plan and buy a one-way ticket somewhere warm.

Maybe don't buy the ticket yet.

September 22: The Door Wasn't Locked — You Were Just Pushing the Wrong Way

After Mercury's encounter with Saturn, the tone changes.

On September 22, Mercury at 17°55′ Libra sextiles Jupiter at 17°55′ Leo.

This is one of my favorite little narrative arcs of the month.

Saturn said: No.

Jupiter says: Okay. What CAN we do?

Mercury in Libra negotiates. Jupiter in Leo expands possibility.

This is supportive for meetings, conversations, agreements, teaching, learning, writing, pitching ideas, planning and looking at the larger picture.

Crucially, Jupiter doesn't erase Saturn's previous reality check.

It builds on it.

Maybe the original plan wasn't viable. Maybe you need another person, another strategy or another route.

Maybe the answer wasn't "no."

Maybe it was: "Not like that."

September 23: The Equinox — Balance Is Not the Same Thing as Being Nice

On September 23, the Sun enters Libra, marking the September Equinox: autumn begins in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

Astrologically, the Sun reaches 0° Libra, one of the four cardinal points of the tropical zodiac.

This makes the Equinox much more significant than another ordinary solar ingress.

We're crossing a seasonal threshold.

Libra brings attention toward relationship, balance, reciprocity, agreements, diplomacy, justice and the ongoing negotiation between self and other.

But the Sun enters Libra while squaring Lilith at approximately 0°57′ Capricorn.

So don't expect the beginning of Libra season to consist exclusively of scented candles and tasteful neutral interiors.

Lilith in Capricorn challenges rules, authority, hierarchy, ambition and socially sanctioned definitions of success.

This makes the Equinox question sharper:

Are you creating peace, or are you complying?

Those are not the same thing. Keeping everybody happy isn't necessarily balance. Avoiding conflict isn't necessarily harmony. Saying yes while silently resenting everybody isn't diplomacy. That's resentment wearing lipstick.

Collectively, the symbolism is equally interesting. Libra speaks of treaties, relationships, justice and diplomacy. Capricorn speaks of institutions, governments, hierarchy and authority.

Questions around who makes the rules, who holds power, what constitutes fairness and which agreements still function may become increasingly visible as this new season begins.

September 26: Full Moon in Aries — Spiritual Leadership or Spiritual Delusion?

Then we reach one of September's most extraordinary days.

On September 26, the Full Moon occurs at 3°37′ Aries, opposite the Sun in Libra.

But this isn't an ordinary Aries Full Moon.

The Moon is conjunct retrograde Neptune around 2°58′ Aries, while the Sun around 2°25′ Libra opposes Neptune and simultaneously trines retrograde Pluto in Aquarius around 3°09′.

That's a lot.

The Aries–Libra axis immediately brings us back to:

ME versus WE. What do I want? What do we need? Where does compromise become self-abandonment? Where does independence become selfishness?

And then Neptune arrives.

Neptune conjunct the Full Moon can heighten sensitivity, imagination, dreams, compassion, creativity, spirituality and intuitive perception.

This could be a beautiful Full Moon for meditation, ritual, contemplation, art, music, writing or simply becoming quiet enough to notice what is happening inside you.

But Neptune has another department. Illusion. Projection. Escapism. Confusion. Wishful thinking.

So the essential question of this Full Moon becomes:

Is this intuition - or is this something I desperately want to believe?

With Neptune now in Aries, another long-term theme becomes particularly fascinating: spiritual leadership.

Who gets to tell us what truth is? Who do we follow? Where does inspiration end and manipulation begin? What happens when spirituality becomes intertwined with identity, courage, leadership and individual will?

Aries wants direct experience. It doesn't particularly enjoy outsourcing its identity.

This Full Moon may therefore ask us to develop greater responsibility for our own inner compass.

And before anyone quits their job because they saw 11:11 four times and a pigeon looked spiritually significant, remember:

Neptune requires discernment.

Meanwhile, the Sun trine Pluto offers depth and psychological honesty.

Neptune dissolves. Pluto excavates.

And the Sun is also moving toward a trine with Uranus, exact on September 28.

So something is developing.

A vision may appear before the breakthrough that explains what to do with it.

September 27: Aggressive Healing at the Edge

On September 27, Mars at 29°38′ Cancer squares retrograde Chiron at 29°38′ Aries.

Both are sitting at the anaretic 29th degree.

And the Moon joins Chiron in Aries, activating the entire Mars–Chiron configuration.

This isn't necessarily healing accompanied by whale sounds and lavender oil.

This can be angry healing. A wound gets triggered. Frustration erupts. Defensiveness appears. Something hits exactly where it hurts. And suddenly we're no longer able to pretend it doesn't matter.

Mars in Cancer can be fiercely protective. Chiron in Aries exposes vulnerabilities around autonomy, identity and powerlessness.

The Moon makes it emotional. The temptation may be to react immediately. But the trigger and the underlying wound aren't necessarily the same thing. Someone may merely press the button.

The interesting question is:

Why was the button already there?

Sometimes healing begins because we become angry enough to establish the boundary we should have established years ago.

September 28: Mars Enters Leo — Everybody Sit Down, I Have an Announcement

On September 28, Mars leaves Cancer and enters Leo.

After weeks of emotionally driven Mars in Cancer, the fire returns.

Mars in Leo wants to create, pursue, perform, lead, compete, desire and be seen doing it.

Mars in Cancer can become angry and cook dinner aggressively.

Mars in Leo enters the room and says:

"Everybody shut up. I have an announcement."

Confidence can increase. Creative ambition can return. Desire becomes more expressive. Actions become more visible.

Just watch the drama.

Mars in Leo doesn't merely want to win.

It would quite like an audience.

On the same day, the Sun at 5°33′ Libra trines retrograde Uranus at 5°33′ Gemini.

And now the breakthrough promised around the Full Moon begins to arrive.

Uranus brings unexpected developments, unconventional solutions, liberation and sudden shifts in perspective.

In Gemini, the revolution is mental and informational.

In harmonious relationship with the Libra Sun, this can produce new conversations, new alliances, unusual solutions and a willingness to reconsider arrangements that have become stale.

Don't dismiss the weird idea immediately.

Sometimes the weird idea is the answer.

September 30: The Wound Gets a Voice

September ends with another exact anaretic confrontation.

On September 30, Mercury at 29°31′ Libra opposes retrograde Chiron at 29°31′ Aries.

Again: the 29th degree.

Again: unfinished business demanding attention before a sign change.

Except this time, the wound speaks.

A conversation can sting.

An old memory can return.

Someone may say exactly the wrong thing—or exactly the right thing you didn't want to hear.

Mercury in Libra tries to communicate fairly. Chiron in Aries asks whether being fair to someone else has required you to silence yourself.

Can you speak honestly without abandoning yourself to preserve the relationship?

Can you hear criticism without interpreting it as proof that something is fundamentally wrong with you?

Can you tell someone what hurts?

Then Mercury enters Scorpio.

And September finishes with small talk officially cancelled.

Mercury in Scorpio wants depth. Motivation. Psychology. Secrets. Strategy. Truth.

It doesn't ask: "How are you?"

It asks: "No. How are you really - and why did you hesitate before answering?"

And Then Comes October…

If September ends and you think: "Excellent. Surely things calm down now."

Oh, sweetheart. October is already loading.

Mercury in Scorpio is heading toward a square with Mars in Leo. Mars is preparing for an opposition to Pluto in Aquarius.

And around October 3, the Sun in Libra opposes Saturn in Aries.

Communication. Action. Power. Authority. Frustration. Consequences. All warming up simultaneously.

So perhaps don't use September 30 to begin seventeen unnecessary arguments. Save some energy. You're going to want snacks. And possibly protective equipment.

Hold onto your underwear. October is coming.

The September Story: What Are You Going to Do About It?

If August 2026 was about revelation, September is about response.

August's eclipses showed us something.

September asks whether we're prepared to work with what we've seen.

The month begins with Jupiter, Saturn and Mars testing whether ambition can survive reality. Venus and the North Node bring relationships into the future. Venus in Scorpio and Pluto expose what lies underneath desire. The Virgo New Moon asks us to clean up the practical mess. Chiron returns to Aries and reopens unfinished questions about identity and courage. The Equinox asks what genuine balance looks like. The Aries Full Moon conjunct Neptune turns our attention toward intuition, spirituality and discernment. Mars entering Leo finally returns fire to the system, while Mercury entering Scorpio closes the month demanding deeper truth.

So perhaps September's most useful question isn't: "What's going to happen to me?"

It's: "What am I going to do with what's happening?"

Because astrology doesn't remove agency. The sky describes the weather. You're still the one driving the car. Preferably without pressing the accelerator and brake simultaneously.
